Loučeň Castle is a romantic, baroque monument featuring original interiors. It is surrounded by a vast park with a unique set of 12 labyrinths, the only one of its kind in Europe. The castle offers guided tours led by a costumed figure, special chocolate tours for children as well as picnics in the park, competitions and seasonal celebrations.
Guided tours
Loučeň Castle is the ideal place to visit for some rest and relaxation and also serves travelers seeking knowledge, entertainment, and romantic getaways. You will be guided through the chambers of the castle by a butler or by the prince or the princess herself, all of whom are dressed up for the occasion. You will be told stories of what life in the castle was like one hundred years ago. Apart from the standard tours, there are also unique experiences available to patrons: a visit of the impressive historic interiors can be combined with a Chocolate Tour, a Mystery Tour guided by the White Lady, or a General Tour, which will lead you from the cellar to the rooftops (known as the Big Circuit Tour). If you would like something extra special for your children, then there are also tours available that are specially tailored to three-year old visitors.
The Castle Grounds
You won't want to miss the Labyrintharium in the castle park, which contains various garden labyrinths and mazes. Also worth seeing is a park featuring exotic woody plants, with ca. 170 year-old Liriodendron tulipifera from North America. Under the hundred-year old beeches or sturdy hollow oak, you will find many cozy places for a picnic. There is a gourmet store available on the property where you can buy food in a picnic basket and borrow a blanket.
If you wish, you may also stay over night and enjoy the marvelous and splendid comfort offered by the timbered Little House of Prince Alexander, the apartments furnished in their original style located in the main castle building, or the neighboring Hotel Maxmilian.
