"FORMA LIVE" – OSTRAVA-PRAGUE MUSIC PROJECT. "FORMA LIVE" LECTURE FOR FILM SCHOOL STUDENTS
We are landing in Kyiv. Five people, three suitcases and one huge and awfully heavy but chic bag slinging over a shoulder (probably over the drummer’s one). We are in a good shape! We see ourselves on a sign saying “FORMA / Czech Centre.” The sign is shining on us across the whole airport hall and behind it there is a nice Ukrainian girl hiding. We are in the right place. We are over the moon. Our first Ukrainian tour begins.
There are several events ahead of us – several press conferences, an encounter with the organizers, a meeting with Lucie from the Czech Centre, a concert at the “Dovženko Centrum” Film Museum beautifully complementing the atmosphere of the silent movie “Erotikon” to which we are performing our own version of music accompaniment. Then we hold the “Ukrainian Cinema Village” workshop for film school students followed by our transfer to Dnipro, more press conferences, our second concert, this time at a beautiful place on the Dnipro River bank, a lecture, transfer to Odessa, further meetings with the media, interviews and a spectacular finish with our third concert on the Black Sea shore.
Ukraine welcomed us with open arms and showed us that in some regards it is far further than the Czech Republic. Ukrainians value their landscape and the materials it offers much more than Czech people do. You can immediately tell that they are more open and kind and they also love seeing people enjoy their home-made meals – and rightly so!
In Kyiv we danced, in Dnipro we fell in love and in Odessa we were sold out! Ukraine entertained us, pleased us, surprised us and charmed us… We hope that Ukraine will get to experience many more exceptional cultural events and host lots of foreign artists who can share their knowledge and experiences here. In return, we will be happy to support Ukrainian artists wanting to perform in the Czech Republic.
