Jakub Gemrot heads Charles Games, the studio affiliated with Prague’s Charles University that produced Attentat 1942, a “WWII game through the eyes of survivors” that won many admirers around the world. Gemrot and his team are hoping to do at least as well with the follow-up Svoboda 1945: Liberation, which is due for release later this year.

#12 Games creator Jakub Gemrot

In this conversation Jakub Gemrot, who is 37, discusses among other things how working on Attentat 1942 gave him a new understanding of peoples choices under the Nazi occupation, how Svoboda 1945s portrayal of the post-war period may spark a strong response, and whether he would ever quit academia for the Czech Republics thriving commercial games industry.
