The project aiming at the presentation of Czech cinema continues in its 14th year in the form of a curated collection of Czech films, which is offered to all embassies and Czech Centres around the world.
The collection, which has traditionally been created in cooperation with the Finále Plzeň Festival and the Institute of Documentary Film, includes feature films ( both live-action and animated), documentaries and short films across genres.
The selection of films is discussed with producers and foreign distributors. Screenings under the banner of Czech That Film (if the terms of the project are properly adhered to) are on favourable financial terms for colleagues abroad.
The first 8 editions of the festival took place only in North America in the form of individual film screenings in selected cities. The festival has been held repeatedly in up to 20 cities in the US and Canada, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin, Chicago, Toronto, Ottawa and others.
Film screenings were regularly supported with Q&A sessions with the filmmakers and actors who accompanied the films.
In 2020, Czech That Film was compelled to move its activity to the online space due to the covid epidemic. The 2020-2022 editions were held online in cooperation with the DAFilms platform and subsequently with Artinii. Online screenings were supplemented by a smaller number of live screenings whenever the epidemic situation allowed.
Since the 12th edition (2023), the Czech That Film collection has been made available to audiences around the world, in addition to North America, through the programmes of Czech Centres and Czech Embassies.
In previous years, the collection has included such films as The Bohemian, Somewhere Over the Chemtrails, Buko, The Last Race, She Came at Night, Tony, Shelly and the Magic Light and We Have Never Been Modern.
