The Story of Czech Design is a network project of the Czech Centres, which presents design as a phenomenon that intensely reflects the social and political developments of its time.
On the occasion of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Czechoslovakia, this project offered an opportunity to look back at the past century through the perspective of Czech design, rooted in high-quality artistic craftsmanship, Czech do-it-yourself culture, and traditional quality materials.
Czech design has a long-standing tradition and has gained international recognition. It has left its mark on the history of world design through several important periods, such as Cubism and the Expo 58.
The exhibition was based on the book Design in the Czech Lands 1900–2000, published by the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, written by Iva Knobloch and Radim Vondráček.
