My Body is Mine

The My Body is Mine Project is a non-profit initiative founded by musician, singer and performer Ridina Ahmedová. Its central focus is body shaming, it is an attempt to open up a public debate on the subject, to remove the taboo and to educate the public.

The programme, prepared in cooperation with the Czech Centres, includes a photo exhibition (optional) on body acceptance and body shaming, a debate of experts, workshops for schools and an original theatre performance called Sádlo (Fat). The author has opened an imaginary Pandora's box in 2021 with her theatre performance Sádlo (Fat) and her subsequent podcast for the Czech Radio.

"Many women carry feelings of guilt and shame because they do not conform to the social ideal of physical beauty. It's also my personal issue that I've struggled with since my childhood. I've tried to point out that bullying, disrespect or insults don't help anyone. On the contrary – they can cause deeper problems for the person concerned," says Ridina Ahmedová.
