EUNIC Ideas Yard. Education today: What would Comenius say?

John Amos Comenius (Jan Amos Komenský), the father of modern education, died 350 years ago. As our education system faces numerous challenges, it might be helpful to rethink the main issues and concepts that Comenius advanced almost four centuries ago. They include equal access to education; individualized educatiion; multisensory engagement connecting texts and pictures (Comenius's Orbis pictus); the use of play advancing creativity (Comenius's schola ludus); experiential learning (learning by doing, education focusing on real-world problems); critical thinking; lifelong learning; transdisciplinary education grounded in the interdependence of sciences; holistic education uniting knowledge and ethics; and the global role of education.

Should we prioritize some concepts over others or should we pay attention to all of them in their mutual relationships?
